Every New Year brings something auspicious to many, and as early as the first week of 2016 a community in Baras, Rizal became the recipient of a brand new Mitsubishi L300 van. The realization was achieved by the sincere implementation of the Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) by the administration of RCRDC headed by its company President Mrs. Veronica I. Lee and Vice-President Mrs. Angelita I. lee through the active consultation with Officials of Barangay Pinugay.
The turn-over ceremony happened on January 4, 2016 which was held at the multi-purpose covered court adjacent the Barangay Hall of Pinugay in the Municipality of Baras, Province of Rizal. The event was organized by barangay officials who have eagerly anticipated the outcome of the formalities which they say was their collective aspiration. It was graced by esteemed guests foremost were the generous benefactor represented by Mrs. Angelita I. Lee together with her Engr. Nestor Hubac. Also present were officials from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office IV-A led by Regional Director Samuel T. Paragas, Mr. Dondi M. Sarmiento, OIC, Mine Safety Environment and Social Development Division, and Mr. Sonny B. Villar, Chief, Mine Community and Social Development Section.
The event opened on a high note as several messages of gratitude and appreciation was made by both the former and current barangay Chairman of Pinugay, the Hon. Jofre R. Seclot. Also of equal importance were the remarks enunciated by RD Paragas the highlight of which are the undeniable benefits derived from Mining. Stressing that he stood there before the crowd as an exemplary product of the mining industry being an early beneficiary himself, a Lepanto Mining company scholar who have greatly helped him and others more to succeed through higher education. Furthermore, Mrs. AngelIta I. Lee also articulated and even made clear the importance of mining its varied usefulness in our modern industries and daily lives. She also stressed out that being in the business of quarry is not without the extra responsibilities associated with it. Adding that paramount concern is placed and carefully programmed for the care of the environment, operational safety and social development, ensuring that all stages of the mining operation are covered by appropriate contingencies as set forth in the guidelines primarily from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau and other concerned government agencies.
astly, the actual handover of the keys for the utility vehicle and the signing of the deed of donation and memorandum of agreement for the project proceeded as planned amid the joyous applause from all gathered for the event. The occasion was well attended, evidenced by the big turnout of crowds composed mostly of residents, youths, elderly, other stakeholders and local leaders alike.
